Ebook fraud

I sometimes do a Google search on my pen name and I always get a ton of links to sites that claim that you can get my books for free – provided that you register and give them your credit card number.

It’s so depressing.

Not because I know my books can be stolen and put out there, but because it is so easy to be fooled by these guys and lose a lot more money than you hoped to save.

And the number of those scam sites seems to increase every time I run the search.

When I first started publishing, I filed a lot of Copyright Infringement reports, and in most cases, it does work. Particularly with large companies like YouTube and Amazon. But then you have all those smaller sharks that never answer, never list their email and generally don’t want to follow the rules.

But what can you do?

Get pissed and swear at your computer, vowing to never write another story?

Or simply laugh at them since they are showing the cover for one story while using the title for another story?

On a good day, I pick the latter.

But today, I think I’ll just stop writing altogether since it’s not worth the fuss (Amazon has just blocked one of my books again. I should probably start writing about cute kitties instead…).

  1. Please don’t stop writing. I first discovered your work on Literotica. After a couple of stories, I went to your author page and read them all. I don’t remember how I discovered Smashwords, but I was delighted to find out that you published ebooks there. Since then I’ve purchased 25 of your books on Smashwords, including those where there were free versions on Literotica.. I’ve read an additional 8 on Wattpad. I regularly check your webpage, Wattpad and Literotica for new stories.

With all that is going on in the world these days, we all need to be able to lose ourselves in a good book.

    • Aww, thank you so much for the kind words, Dave πŸ™‚ I really appreciate them so thank you so much for making my day look a lot brighter πŸ™‚

I guess I had a bad day yesterday. I don’t think I can stop writing even if I tried. Actually, after a bit of sulking (yeah, I admit that was what it was, lol – we all have those days, don’t we?) I went back to writing again.

And Amazon actually did publish my book after I reposted it. Maybe Christmas came early, eh?
