Mira reached for her handbag and located the bottle of pills. After taking out one of them, she turned to the sink to get some water. There was some noise coming from the door behind her and she whirled around.

“Doing drugs, Doc?” Jacob asked. His voice sounded icy cold as he looked at the pill in her hand.

She had never heard him talk like that before. Not to her. This was probably the voice he used when dealing with culprits and criminals in his work as an enforcer. Quickly, he grabbed her hand, holding it forcefully while using his superior strength to keep her still. She budged a little until she realised how little strength he needed to hold her.

“I’ve a headache,” Mira blurted out. “These help.”

He took the bottle from her. “I’ll need Logan to verify that. Damn, the smell is even worse in here. You stink, woman.”

She winced at his sharp words. As any woman, she hated to know she wasn’t her best.

“What is that damn smell?” Jacob said with a confused voice.

He leaned down and sniffed her neck. Deeply. A look of surprise spread across his face. She could scent him clearly. The alpha male scent became stronger, more present.
