“Your first mistake is to believe that I’m safe,” he said gruffly.

“Yes, yes. You’re probably terribly scary once you put your heart into it, but right now I’m thinking that it would be a perfect place to set up my tent right there by that tree,” she pointed.

“Look, Missy. You can go camping anywhere in the world, just not in a werewolf territory a few days before the full moon.”

“Okay, then I can sleep in my car for those few days. No problem at all.”

“You won’t be safe anywhere except beside me and inside my cottage.”

“Oh. Well, I can always camp before the full moon and then return after it’s over. That will work just fine.”

“And what if someone catch your scent and come visiting?”

“They don’t come here, Grady. You said so yourself. By the way, will you change to a wolf at full moon?”

“Yes. We all do. It feels too good to resist.”

“How do you know when the full moon will happen? Do you watch the calendar?”

“No, I can feel it in my body.”

“How?”

“It feels like an urge to live freely, to run for as long as you like. To feel the wind as you move. It’s like freedom is calling to you, making you throw away your usual control.”

“Wow.”

“Yes, wow is a good way of describing it. It’s like an itch that has been building for a long time, just waiting for you to give in.”

“You like that time?”

“Yes. But I can’t control myself as well as I do the rest of the month.”

“Meaning?”

“You have to leave or I might fuck you.”
